Let me share with you a story about the first time I rode my bike with the new Assos jacket, model IJ. TIBURU. 4. First of all, I’m not sure whether to call it a winter jersey or a jacket since at first glance it’s a “fat” jersey, but once on and in action, it embodies the notion of a jacket perfectly well. My outing began one morning with the temperature around 15 degrees Celsius, a northerly wind was blowing, so the wind chill made it feel colder. The first feeling one gets upon introducing one’s arms into the sleeves is of a perfect fit, one’s forearm feels like it has a second skin. Once zippered up, you can appreciate the new design of the neckline on this Assos garment, snug inside and somewhat looser outside.
By the way, the design of the metallic zipper is very attractive and larger than previous models. The new material Stragon dominates the backside of the sleeves and in the dorsal and lumbar regions of the garment, making it comfortable and breathable. The inner portion of the garment has a plush fabric, very smooth and warm at the same time. Once you’re in motion and in your cyclist’s position, the garment adjusts to your body’s form perfectly, each part moving as it should, replicating in effect the user’s anatomy. At no time despite the high speeds at which I was moving did I notice sail-like flapping in any part of the garment, something quite common in these types of garments, especially in the cervical and humeral regions.
Breathability is excellent, and so is the wind-protection it offers, two rare points with these types of garments. Inicidentally, I was carrying in one of the three back pockets (the small one had the usual small and distinctive Assos zipper), a wind-stopper vest model, sv.blitzfeder, also Asso’s, just in case I needed something extra for the descent, or during windy patches, but I ended up not using it, since the wind-protection I was getting was more than enough. At no time was it necessary to use the AirBlock material from the InteractiveEvo by Asso’s, or anything else to fight off the wind. I should mention that as a first layer I was wearing an Asso’s fallInteractive which completed the gamut of Asso’s protection against adverse weather conditions.
No doubt, the IJ.TIBURU.4 is more than a winter jersey. It has a radical aesthetic and completes its stated mission by providing thermal protection in temperatures ranging from 8 to 16 degrees below zero. It’s ideal for the weather conditions evident throughout our local geography.
